The darkest chapter of Maldives history began when the Portuguese martyred King Ali (VI) (Alias: Ali Rasggefaanu) and ruthlessly ruled the Maldives for 15 years. The cruelty of the Portuguese domination from 1558 to 1573 was erased by the glorious son of Maldives “A’ Sultan Mohamed Thakurrufaanul Auzam” (alias: Bodu Thakuruffaanu) during a victorious campaign. Ali Rasgefaanu Ziyaarai is the place where He was buried & made a tomb in his memorial.
